Nyesom Wike, former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has stated that when he was appointed FCT Minister, some people told him that Abuja was different from Rivers State
In a video shared by NTA, Wike said that after assuming office, he did many things that his predecessors were afraid to do and the heavens did not fall
Wike stated that true leadership is about having the courage to take tough decisions that others are unwilling to make. He made this statement while delivering a lecture about leadership at the University of Port Harcourt.
In Wike’s words: “When I came into Abuja they said, “This is not Rivers State, this is not Port Harcourt.” I did those things people are running away from doing and I stood firm and I said heaven will not fall, rather there is peace in heaven. That is leadership, being courageous to take decisions that people run away from”
