According to a report by TeamTalk on Sunday June 7, 2026, Real Madrid are reportedly pushing ahead with plans to sign Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández, with Spanish reports claiming the Argentine is even open to agreeing a long-term contract at the Santiago Bernabéu amid growing transfer speculation ahead of 2026.
Fernández has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time, with club president Florentino Pérez personally eager to bring the 25-year-old World Cup winner to Spain as part of his long-term midfield rebuild project at the club.
There are also claims that former Real Madrid boss José Mourinho is interested in reuniting with Fernández if he returns to the club, with sources suggesting a potential summer 2026 move could be on the agenda if leadership changes take place.
Spanish journalist Miguel Serrano has reported that an agreement already exists between Real Madrid and Fernández’s camp, although no deal has been reached with Chelsea, meaning any transfer still depends heavily on negotiations between the two clubs.
According to Serrano, the player’s representatives are aligned with Madrid, and discussions are said to centre mainly on whether Chelsea will lower their financial demands for the midfielder ahead of a potential post-World Cup move.
Another outlet, El Debate, claims Fernández is willing to sign a five-year contract with Real Madrid and has no issues over personal terms, with wages not expected to be a major obstacle in completing an agreement.
The main challenge remains Chelsea’s valuation, with the Premier League club reportedly demanding around €138 million for the Argentine, who has already won the World Cup and Copa América with his national team.
Real Madrid, however, are believed to be exploring creative ways to complete the deal, including a potential player-plus-cash structure to reduce the overall fee required to sign Fernández from Stamford Bridge.
Players such as Aurélien Tchouaméni and Eduardo Camavinga have been mentioned as possible makeweights, while younger talents like Jacobo Ramón and Chema Andrés could also be included, depending on Chelsea’s interest in those options.
