According to a report by The Punch on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has finally broken his silence following Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s public decision to align with his political camp, insisting that “there is no sin in politics.”
Wike made the statement on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, while inspecting road projects in Abuja. His remarks came shortly after Fubara announced his return to Wike’s Rainbow Coalition and pledged total support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid. The move follows months of a high-stakes political rift that gripped Rivers State.
Dismissing reports that the governor needed forgiveness before returning, Wike noted that recognizing a mistake and changing course is a normal part of political life.
“In politics, there is no sin. If someone realizes they made a mistake and decides to correct it, there is nothing wrong with that,” Wike stated. “What matters is recognizing that you were on the wrong path and making the right decision.”
The minister recalled predicting Fubara’s eventual return during a recent media chat, adding that the governor had no realistic alternative given their shared political roots.
He affirmed that the reconciliation would unify efforts to secure a solid victory for the President in the upcoming presidential race.
Fubara’s public declaration occurred during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Rivien Medical Industry project in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The governor urged his supporters to back candidates under the Rainbow Coalition, emphasizing that political hostility in Rivers State has officially ended.
Meanwhile, Wike inspected key FCT infrastructure projects, including the Apo-Karshi Road, confirming that contractors have committed to a December completion date for the ISEX Road Corridor.
He reaffirmed his administration’s goal to complete inherited development projects across the nation’s capital.
