According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), has revealed that the Federal Government is considering another salary increase for personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Musa explained that the planned adjustment is part of efforts to improve the welfare of military officers who continue to risk their lives in protecting the country and maintaining national security.
The Defence Minister said the government appreciates the sacrifices of soldiers and other security personnel and is committed to providing better financial rewards and improved conditions of service.
In a statement released by his media aide, Leah Katung-Babatunde, Musa said the administration is determined to ensure that members of the armed forces are properly compensated for their dedication and service to the nation.
He recalled that during his tenure as Chief of Defence Staff, he advocated for better salaries for soldiers, which resulted in their monthly pay increasing from N49,000 to N100,000.
Musa noted that the government’s efforts will not end with that adjustment, as additional measures are being considered to further improve military personnel’s earnings and benefits.
The retired general stressed that enhancing the welfare of soldiers remains a key priority of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, adding that more initiatives will be introduced to support officers and their families as they continue carrying out their duties.
