According to report by Vanguard News on Sunday, June 28, 2026, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as false a list circulating online and in other platforms claiming to contain the names of candidates who emerged victorious in the party’s recently concluded primary elections.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the APC had not released any official list of successful candidates from the primaries.
He described the document making the rounds as fake and unauthorised, urging members of the public not to rely on it.
According to Morka, the party remains committed to following its established procedures before announcing the outcome of the primaries.
He explained that candidates who emerged successful would first be formally notified through the party’s official communication channels before being presented with their certificates of return.
The APC spokesperson appealed to party members, stakeholders, supporters and the general public to ignore any reports or publications claiming to announce the winners ahead of the official release.
He stressed that only information issued directly by the party should be regarded as authentic.
The clarification comes as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its portal for political parties to upload the names of candidates nominated to contest the 2027 general elections following their primary polls.
Although the APC has maintained that the authentic list is yet to be published, sources within the party indicated that the internal process of collating, verifying and validating the names of successful aspirants is still ongoing before the final list is made public.
Party insiders explained that the decision to publicly reject the circulating list became necessary to prevent confusion and misinformation among aspirants, party members and the electorate.
They noted that releasing an unofficial document could create unnecessary disputes and undermine confidence in the party’s nomination process.
The APC therefore reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and due process, assuring members that the official list of candidates would be released at the appropriate time after all internal verification procedures have been completed in line with the party’s guidelines and electoral requirements.
