In this interview with The Punch, the founder and pioneer National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Ralph Nwosu, explained that prior to the current developments, the party had experienced internal challenges, which he attributed to Dumebi Kachikwu.
When asked what was currently happening, he explained that certain individuals were being influenced to create the impression that there was a crisis within the African Democratic Congress.
He questioned how a single individual could constitute a faction in a party he described as having millions of members, noting that in major political parties, once a presidential candidate loses an election, their candidacy naturally comes to an end.
He further alleged that Dumebi Kachikwu was exploiting every opportunity to project influence within the party, while suggesting that the government in power had significant resources being used to fuel such narratives.
Further talking, he said, “This is money they have come to regard as an anti-opposition budget. A few people are looking that way. But that few, even if they are 20 or 30 or whatever number, is not a fraction in an organisation that is over five million registered members who are paying their dues.”
