According to a report by DAILY POST on Sunday 7th June 2026, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Deji Ogunsakin, has cautioned the state governor, Biodun Oyebanji, against what he described as alleged harassment of opposition members ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
Ogunsakin made the remarks on Saturday at the Wole Oluyede Campaign Office in Ado-Ekiti, where he accused the administration of using intimidation tactics against supporters of the PDP candidate.
He alleged that armed men, purportedly operating under the guise of security agencies, had been invading homes of PDP members in parts of the state, arresting individuals and failing to disclose their whereabouts.
According to him, some of those affected include party officials linked to the PDP governorship candidate, Oluwole Oluyede.
He further claimed that an illegal security outfit known as “H-Squad” was being used to target opposition figures, calling for urgent investigation by relevant authorities.
Ogunsakin urged security agencies to account for those allegedly arrested and called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene, stressing the need to protect democratic rights and ensure a level playing field.
He insisted that the PDP remained confident of victory in the June 20 poll, arguing that voters were dissatisfied with the current administration and ready for change.
Also speaking, PDP leader Chief Sanya Atofarati condemned the alleged arrests, saying government should prioritize tackling insecurity and kidnapping rather than focusing on political opponents.
He called on security agencies to investigate the allegations and ensure transparency in all operations ahead of the election.
The PDP maintained that the alleged actions, if unchecked, could heighten political tension in the state as the election draws closer.
