According to report by Vanguard on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the internal crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State escalated on Wednesday as the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, demanded the dissolution of the influential Justice Forum and Mandate Movement factions, accusing them of manipulating the party’s primary elections.
Tinubu-Ojo, who is also the daughter of President Bola Tinubu, specifically condemned the conduct of the House of Representatives primaries in Mushin Constituency I, Agege Constituency II, and Ojokoro.
She alleged that the genuine winners in these areas were denied their rightful victories, with their mandates allegedly transferred to individuals who did not win the contests.
Speaking at her weekly meeting with market leaders and stakeholders in Alausa, Ikeja, she described the situation as political manipulation that undermines internal democracy.
She warned against any attempt to override the will of party members, stressing that such actions could weaken the APC ahead of future elections.
She further expressed concern over what she called the continued neglect of traders by political office holders, despite their significant role in the party’s electoral successes in Lagos State.
According to her, market women deserve greater recognition and inclusion in governance structures.
Citing specific cases, she insisted that Mutiu Olaide Oladeebo (Agege II), Seye Oladejo (Mushin Federal Constituency), and Olotu Emmanuel Ojo (Ojokoro) clearly won their respective primaries, but their victories were allegedly altered through political interference.
Tinubu-Ojo called on APC leaders at both state and national levels to urgently investigate the disputed primaries before final approval of results.
She warned that failure to address the grievances could deepen internal divisions within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
She also reaffirmed the support of Lagos market women for the governorship ambition of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and other APC candidates, while insisting that traders must be rewarded with recognition and political appointments for their loyalty.
Meanwhile, aggrieved party members in Mushin threatened to stage protests if the alleged stolen mandate of Seye Oladejo was not restored, accusing party leaders of undermining internal democracy.
