The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lampooned the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over what it described as his continued defections from one party to another in a desperate bid to contest next year’s general elections.
The APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, who chided Obi via the party’s official X account, described him as a “political rolling stone that gathers no moss”.
The ruling party further described the former Anambra State governor as a politician who is never willing to remain with one political party to build it, tagging him “Nigeria’s inconsolable political drifter”.
The APC called out the candidate’s movement from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), then to the LP, the opposition coalition party—the African Democratic Congress (ADC)—and now to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The national leadership of the party also wondered why Obi has continued to fantasise about becoming president on a ticket delivered only on a platter of gold.
While chiding him further, the ruling party sarcastically attacked Obi for preferring an uncontested and unchallenged presidential ticket, while wishing him well in his ambition.
“Peter Obi, a political rolling stone that gathers no moss… roaming again in search of a free, uncontested, unchallenged presidential ticket… never willing to remain to build any party… fantasises to be president on a ticket delivered only on a platter of gold… APGA – PDP – LP – ADC on to NDC… fare thee well, Nigeria’s inconsolable political DRIFTER,” the party’s spokesperson noted.
