According to a report by DAILY POST on Sunday 7th June 2026, a factional chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Nasarawa State, Alexander Ombugu, has raised concerns over alleged threats to his life, calling on security agencies to provide urgent protection and investigate the matter.
Ombugu made the appeal while addressing journalists in Lafia on Saturday, stating that the threats could be connected to internal party disputes and his role in recent primary elections in the state.
He, however, declined to name those allegedly responsible, saying he would prefer to provide such information directly to security operatives to avoid compromising ongoing investigations.
According to him, the situation requires immediate attention from law enforcement authorities to prevent any possible harm and ensure those behind the threats are identified and brought to justice.
“I have conducted myself within the confines of the law since joining active politics,” Ombugu said, insisting that his activities within the Labour Party have been guided by transparency and due process.
He maintained that he had not engaged in any conduct capable of provoking hostility, adding that his commitment to lawful political engagement should not attract intimidation.
Ombugu urged security agencies to act swiftly to guarantee his safety and carry out a thorough investigation into the allegations.
The incident comes amid rising political tension and internal struggles within political parties in Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
