According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, June 02, 2026, the vice presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has held a strategic meeting with the party’s Nasarawa State candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The engagement took place on Tuesday at Kwankwaso’s residence in the Maitama area of Abuja and brought together key party figures from Nasarawa State.
Party sources said the meeting focused on strengthening internal structures, promoting unity among members, and refining campaign strategies ahead of upcoming political activities.
It was also described as part of broader efforts by the NDC to consolidate its organisational framework and build a coordinated platform capable of delivering what party leaders described as people-focused governance.
The discussion reportedly centred on improving coordination between national and state-level stakeholders, with emphasis on preparing for election-related mobilisation and outreach across constituencies.
Kwankwaso was recently announced as the party’s Vice Presidential candidate following the emergence of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, as the NDC presidential flag bearer.
Both political figures were previously associated with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) before their reported defection to the NDC, a move they attributed to internal disputes and unresolved legal challenges within their former party structure.
The development marks a significant realignment within Nigeria’s evolving political landscape as parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Party officials say the NDC is working to position itself as a unified platform ahead of the polls, with ongoing consultations expected to continue across different states in the coming months.
