A top Benue State governorship Aspirant, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Engr. Peter Terwase Tortiv-Ato has received blessings from his maternal kinsmen of Mbabur to contest the 2027 governorship election.
This event took place in his maternal hometown, Abenga, Mbabur, Mbaikya, in Gwer-East Local Government Area, Benue State.
Addressing his maternal kinsmen, Ato said his decision to contest the 2027 governorship was borne out of the growing desire of the people of the State for a change that will secure and transform the State, noting that the state is bedeviled by numerous challenges requiring competent leadership to address them.
He decried worsening insecurity, the poor state of agriculture, where farmers rarely recoup their investments, as well as challenges in education, the economy, and the health sector, a high rate of unemployment and infrastructural deficits, among others, explaining that he has developed a blueprint to address these challenges.
Ato solicited the blessings and support of his maternal kinsmen, stressing that he possesses the competence and readiness to reposition the state on the path of progress and shared prosperity and assured that, if elected, he would not disappoint the people, having clearly identified both the problems and their solutions.
Speaking, the Director-General of Ato Campaign Organisation, Chief Godwin Uwua, thanked the people of Mbabur for a warm reception and urged them to embrace Ato’s governorship ambition as a collective project and support him to emerge the PDP flagbearer and win the 2027 governor election.
In his response, Elder Fred Agber Num(JP), who spoke for the elders of Mbabur, described Ato as a humble and disciplined young man who has consistently demonstrated competence from childhood. He assured him of their blessings and support and expressed confidence that Ato would become the governor of the state in 2027, and wished him well in his consultations.
Speaking on behalf of women and youth, Mrs. Grace Andoor and Comrade Dio Terhemen commended Ato’s aspiration, describing it as liberation for the state and assured him of their prayers and support.
In separate remarks, Ato’s uncle, Hon. Iorpuu Akile, Fmr. Council Chairmen, Guma Local government Area, Hon. Anthony Shawon (KSJ), and Dr Mike Uba, Fmr. Council chairman, Makurdi Local government area, Hon. Godwin Donko, Fmr. State Assembly Member, Guma Hon.
