African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Kenneth Okonkwo, has declared that former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, will be labelled a mole of President Bola Tinubu if he quits the coalition over the loss of the party’s presidential ticket.
Naija News reports that Okonkwo made this known during an interview with Channels Television.
When asked about the speculations that Peter Obi will leave the ADC coalition if he fails to secure the presidential ticket of the party.
In response, Kenneth Okonkwo said that such a decision would only mean that Peter Obi is compromised and working for President Tinubu’s re-election.
He said, “If he leaves, will he now be a mobile squatter. Anybody, any presidnetial aspirant in ADC and seeing what everybody is going through and leaves ADC for another party, one, he is a mobile squatter and two, he is working for Tinubu.
“Anybody that goes out of the coalition is compromised and is working for Tinubu. Whoever that person is”
Meanwhile, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has stated that he is ready to step aside if Peter Obi emerges as the ADC candidate in 2027.
Atiku stated this while fielding questions during an interview on Arise News on Wednesday evening.
He was asked directly whether he would step aside if Obi wins the ADC presidential primary, and he replied affirmatively.
Atiku and Peter Obi are regarded as the front-runners for ADC’s presidential ticket.
Others, such as Rabiu Kwankwaso and Rotimi Amaechi, are also believed to be in the running for the ADC ticket.
When asked if he would step down for Obi if the former Labour Party presidential candidate gets the ADC ticket, Atiku said, “Yes, I will step aside for any winner.”
Asked if “any winner includes Peter Obi”, Atiku said, “Of course, if he is a contender, why not?”
