On Thursday, May 28, 2026, The Chelsea Chronicles reported that Al Nassr wrapped up an excellent season with a 4–1 victory over Damac to claim the Saudi Pro League title. The campaign featured major contributions from Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mané, Kingsley Coman, and João Félix, and it ended with both sporting success and financial rewards extending to several of their former clubs.
This achievement gives Al Nassr their second league championship in ten years and their first since the 2018–19 season. They held off competition from teams such as Al Hilal, Al Ahli managed by Ivan Toney, and Brendan Rodgers’ Al-Qadsiah, who just fell short of a top-three finish.
A major highlight was João Félix, who arrived from Chelsea last summer in a deal worth £26.2 million upfront, potentially rising to £43.7 million with performance-related add-ons. The Portuguese attacker made a major impact, registering 45 goal involvements over the course of the season.
Although some critics continue to question the quality of the Saudi Pro League, Félix delivered consistently strong performances, excelling in both scoring and creating goals. His success has also reportedly triggered additional payments to Chelsea based on agreed transfer clauses.
Saudi publication Arriyadiyah reports that Al Nassr will distribute around £5 million in bonuses linked to the league victory involving both Félix and Kingsley Coman. Chelsea are expected to earn approximately £4 million from clauses included in Félix’s transfer agreement, while Bayern Munich will also receive a smaller bonus tied to Coman’s deal, reflecting the performance-based structure of the contracts.
Félix previously played for Atlético Madrid, spent time on loan at Barcelona, and represented Chelsea before moving to Saudi Arabia. While opinions differ regarding the league’s competitiveness, he has produced the most productive spell of his career in terms of direct goal contributions.
During his time at Chelsea, he scored 11 goals and registered two assists in 40 matches but was unable to secure a consistent starting position. Despite his strong performances in Saudi Arabia, debate continues about whether Chelsea were premature in allowing him to leave, with some fans believing he should have been given more time in the squad.
