In a recent interview on Symfoni TV, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, Robinson Nnam-Ewoh, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, discussed the growing conversation around political representation and the quest for power among various groups in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections.
During the interview, he argued that political power is not obtained through sentiment alone but through organization, mobilization, and participation in the democratic process. He noted that groups seeking political representation must be willing to work collectively to achieve their objectives.
Speaking during the discussion, Nnam-Ewoh stated, “If they want a riverine governor, let them rally around the candidate of the NDC.” He made the comment while addressing calls from some quarters for greater riverine representation in the state’s leadership.
According to him, every political group has the constitutional right to pursue its interests within the democratic space. However, he stressed that success can only be achieved when supporters unite behind a candidate and actively campaign for electoral victory.
Nnam-Ewoh further explained that elections are determined by votes and that no individual or group should expect political power to be handed to them without effort. He maintained that political stakeholders must engage voters and present convincing reasons why their preferred candidates deserve support.
He concluded by urging Rivers people to focus on competence, leadership ability, and development plans when assessing candidates. He added that regardless of political affiliation, the ultimate goal should be the election of leaders capable of advancing the state’s progress and improving the welfare of its citizens.
