Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho has said the government should allow him and his supporters to help fight bandits hiding in forests if it is serious about rescuing kidnapped victims, according to a report published by PUNCH on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
Igboho made the statement after the recent kidnapping of students and a teacher in Oyo State by armed men. He said he was ready to help rescue the victims but was told that the kidnappers had threatened to kill them if any force was used during a rescue attempt.
He added that the bandits often hide in forests and use them as bases to carry out attacks and kidnappings. According to him, stronger action is needed to flush them out and prevent future attacks.
According to Igboho,
“If they are serious about rescuing the victims, they should tell my boys and me to chase them out of the forests in our regions and see if those people will remain there even with their bombs and sophisticated weapons.”
