Sen. Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, spoke about the ongoing Iran conflict during an appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity,” where he discussed recent developments surrounding Tehran’s nuclear ambitions and regional tensions in the Middle East.
Graham praised President Donald Trump, crediting him with preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. He described the situation as being extremely close to a point of escalation before what he called decisive action changed the outcome. According to him, this intervention significantly altered the strategic balance in the region.
He also highlighted what he described as major setbacks for Iran’s economy and military capacity, suggesting that the country’s ability to project power had been severely weakened. Graham framed these developments as a turning point in efforts to stop Iran’s nuclear progress and limit its influence in regional conflicts.
Graham said, “God bless you, President Trump. We were weeks away from a nuclear-armed Iran. No more. Everything has been obliterated. Their economy is in tatters. Their military has been decimated.”
His remarks come amid ongoing debate in Washington over how effectively Iran’s nuclear program has been contained and what steps should follow in U.S. foreign policy. The senator argued that strong leadership and decisive measures had already delivered results in preventing nuclear escalation.
Graham further maintained that Iran’s strategic position has been significantly weakened, reducing its leverage in both military and diplomatic arenas. He suggested that continued pressure remains necessary to ensure long-term stability in the region and to prevent any future revival of nuclear ambitions.
The comments reflect broader political discussions in the United States regarding Iran’s security posture, the effectiveness of past interventions, and the ongoing challenge of maintaining balance in Middle Eastern geopolitics as tensions continue to evolve.
