According to a video posted on Channels TV, on Monday June 22, 2026, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor revealed disturbing details of child abductions in Nigeria, stating that children as young as two years old had been taken alongside their teachers in recent attacks.
He made the disclosure during his interview on Politics Today on Channels Television.
The cleric, a former president of the Christian Association of Nigeria, said the incident occurred in one of Nigeria’s northern states, though he did not provide further specifics during the conversation.
He described the abduction as part of a broader and worsening pattern of insecurity affecting vulnerable groups, including pregnant women and schoolchildren.
In his words, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor said, “Children as young as two years old, three years old, they were abducted with their teachers, pregnant women, all kinds of people were taken into the forest.
“Only God knows what is going on with them now, right now as we speak. Only God knows,” he said.
The former CAN president attributed such abductions to what he described as jihad and extremism, although the interviewer pushed back, suggesting the incidents could be better classified as criminality or terrorism rather than purely religious extremism.
Pastor Oritsejafor maintained his position, insisting that the underlying motivation remained religious in nature.
His remarks highlight the continuing vulnerability of children and other civilians in parts of Nigeria affected by insurgency and banditry.
Rights groups have repeatedly raised alarms over the rising number of school-related abductions in the country, a crisis that has drawn both local and international concern in recent years.
