Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, daughter of President Bola Tinubu and Iyaloja General of Lagos State, has reportedly threatened to lead a protest over alleged irregularities and manipulation during the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries in Lagos State.
Her stance comes amid growing controversy surrounding the APC primary elections in Lagos, which have been widely described as one of the most disputed party exercises in the current election cycle.
According to reports from Vanguard and ThisDay, the primaries conducted across 245 wards in Lagos were allegedly marred by voter intimidation, disruption of polling units, and widespread complaints of result manipulation.
Several aspirants from constituencies including Mushin, Mainland, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Amuwo-Odofin, Apapa, and others are said to have submitted formal petitions to President Bola Tinubu, the APC national leadership, and Lagos State party officials, demanding a full review of the exercise and alleging that the process fell short of democratic standards.
The petitioners also accused Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat of allegedly influencing the outcome of the primaries in favour of selected candidates, an allegation that has further deepened internal tensions within the party in the state.
Folashade Tinubu-Ojo’s reported threat to mobilize a protest has attracted significant attention due to her influential position in Lagos political and traditional market structures, as well as her close family ties to the presidency. Analysts say her reaction underscores the level of dissatisfaction within party ranks over how the primaries were conducted.
The development also appears to contrast with earlier appeals by President Bola Tinubu, who urged party members to avoid divisive politics and ensure fairness in the selection process. Despite those calls, the aftermath of the primaries has continued to generate disputes and internal friction within the Lagos APC.
