Arsenal delivered a commanding first-half masterclass to beat Fulham 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday as reported by Football.London.
Viktor Gyokeres was the central figure, netting twice before halftime to give Arsenal a commanding cushion.
Bukayo Saka, returning to the starting lineup for the first time since the Carabao Cup final defeat to City on March 22, played a central role in unlocking the Fulham defense throughout the opening exchanges.
Arsenal broke the deadlock in the ninth minute through a clever combination. Saka received the ball from Myles Lewis-Skelly before cutting inside and threading a precise pass across the six-yard box, where Gyokeres converted without difficulty.
The Swedish striker then doubled the advantage just before the break, finishing coolly after a flowing team move involving Eberechi Eze.
Gyokeres completed his brace in first-half stoppage time, powering a header from Leandro Trossard’s cross past Bernd Leno to make it three.
Arsenal head into the final three fixtures of the season against West Ham, Burnley, and Crystal Palace sitting six points clear of City, with a superior goal difference of four, though having played two additional games.
Fulham rarely threatened, though David Raya made a sharp save from Timothy Castagne, and former Arsenal academy product Emile Smith Rowe hit the side netting.
Riccardo Calafiori also struck the crossbar late on from a corner.
With an eye on Tuesday’s Champions League semifinal second leg against Atletico Madrid, Saka and Gyokeres were both withdrawn at halftime and the hour mark respectively.
