According to Fox Tv on Wednesday, May 27th 2026, Fox News host Jesse Watters has reported remarks attributed to a senior U.S. administration official regarding the current White House position on Iran and broader military strategy in the region.
Speaking during a Fox News broadcast, Watters cited an official assessment of how the administration views possible changes on the ground amid ongoing tensions involving Iran. “Senior administration official says the president’s view right now is that you would need a substantial escalation in order to meaningfully change things that are going on on the ground,” he said.
He suggested that U.S. policymakers are weighing the effectiveness of continued military pressure against potential diplomatic or strategic alternatives. According to Watters, officials believe additional leverage could still be gained through force but at a significant cost.
“You could always get more through military contact,” he added during the segment, referencing what he described as internal discussions about military options and escalation strategies.
Watters also highlighted uncertainty within the administration about whether further action would produce meaningful benefits compared to its risks. “The question is whether you could get something that’s worth the cost,” he stated.
He further claimed that Iran’s ability to rebuild its military capabilities has been significantly weakened due to prior strikes and ongoing pressure campaigns. “The Iranians are not going to be rearming any time soon because we knocked out their military industrial complex,” Watters said.
