The Minister of Defence, retired General Christopher Musa, has alleged that one of the hardest experiences of his military career was having to inform the families of fallen soldiers about their deaths.
General Musa said in a media coverage by Channels TV, “As a commander, I had the privilege of being the commander in the theatre of operation for 19 months. And the worst thing that could ever happen to you is having to meet the families of soldiers who are killed. How do you explain to their families what happened to them? Some of them have been amputated because the vehicles they were riding went through IEDs.”
The minister appealed to Nigerians to honour and support members of the armed forces who continue to put their lives on the line to protect the country. He called for citizens to back soldiers with everything needed to keep them motivated, stressing that with the support of ordinary Nigerians, much more could be achieved in the fight to secure the nation.
