According to a video posted on Fox News, on Monday June 22, 2026, former CIA Chief of Station and Fox News contributor Dan Hoffman raised serious concerns about the ongoing nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran, warning that Tehran is demanding financial rewards before it is willing to discuss its nuclear program.
Hoffman, speaking during a live interview on Fox News, made clear that Iran’s approach to the current talks is driven by a desire to collect economic benefits first, leaving the harder and more critical issues for later.
He argued that this pattern reveals a calculated strategy by the Iranian government to extract maximum concessions from Washington before agreeing to address the core concerns that led to the negotiations in the first place.
In his words, Dan Hoffman said, “Iran wants to put off those more difficult issues like the nuclear program. Right now ballistic missiles and support to proxy terrorists are off the table right now.
“Iran wanted a lot of benefits up front. That’s the ability to sell oil at market prices on the world market, some unfrozen assets returned to them, and then eliminate at least for the time being the threat of U.S. military strikes,” he said.
Hoffman further noted that there is no evidence Iran is ready to negotiate in good faith on its nuclear program, adding that there never has been.
He expressed concern that the current negotiations are being conducted largely on Iran’s terms, focused on issues like Lebanon and the Strait of Hormuz, rather than the core objectives that drove the United States to launch military strikes in the first place.
Those objectives, he said, included securing a stronger deal than the JCPOA, with no sunset clauses, real inspections, addressing Iran’s ballistic missile program, and ending its support for proxy terrorist groups across the Middle East.
