Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, former president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has spoken about his private jet that was found containing huge amount of money in South Africa in 2014
In an interview with Channels Television, Oritsejafor said maintaining the aircraft was very expensive, so he leased it to a businessman based in Abuja. He said the aircraft was in the man’s possession and that he did not know how it was being used
Oritsejafor said he was staying in a hotel when he received a phone call informing him that there was a problem involving his aircraft. He said that was when he was told the aircraft had been used to transport money to South Africa for the purchase of arms
In Oritsejafor’s words: “I was in the hotel when someone called me and said ‘There is a problem with your plane’. I said, ‘what happened?’ Then they told me that the plane was used to take money to South Africa to buy arms. That was how I found out about it because I didn’t know”
