Suspected bandits were forced to flee and abandon several motorcycles after over four hours of exchange of gunfire with soldiers and operatives of the Nigeria Police Force’s Mobile Police unit. In a viral video circulating online, security personnel were seen displaying recovered motorcycles and weapons allegedly left behind by the fleeing criminals after the fierce confrontation.
A voice heard in the video said: “All the bikes you see, after four hours of exchange with bandits, we recovered these bikes and guns. We are here with the gallant military and all the gallant policemen, firmly on ground and alert.”
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to release an official statement detailing the exact location of the operation, the number of casualties recorded, or the total quantity of weapons recovered.

The development comes barely a day after troops of the Nigerian Army’s 17 Brigade recorded a major operational success against suspected terrorists in Ginchawa, Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The operation, codenamed “Operation CLEAN SWEEP III”, was launched in the early hours of the day following credible intelligence on terrorist activities within the area.
According to the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 17 Brigade, Captain Abayomi Adisa, troops carried out a surprise dawn raid on the terrorists’ hideout, catching them off guard.
The terrorists reportedly attempted to resist the advancing troops but were overwhelmed by superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their position and flee into nearby bushes.
During the operation, two terrorists were neutralised, while several others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds. The military said traces of blood were discovered within the enclave and along escape routes used by the fleeing suspects.
A subsequent search of the hideout led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, communication gadgets and logistics items.
Items recovered included two PKT machine guns, one dane gun, an AK-47 magazine, 75 rounds of 7.62mm linked NATO ammunition, three motorcycles, two mobile phones, a Motorola radio set, a camouflage uniform, two cows and four goats.
The Nigerian Army confirmed that no casualties were recorded among troops involved in the operation.
