
The All Progressives Congress in Zamfara State has successfully concluded its state congress, resulting in the formal emergence of new executive council members to lead the party. The event took place on Saturday in Gusau, the state capital, where party members gathered to finalize the leadership structure through a consensus arrangement. National officials and observers were present to ensure that the process followed established guidelines ahead of the upcoming general election cycle.
According to a report by Daily Post on May 3, 2026, while overseeing the peaceful proceedings alongside various electoral monitors she stated, the consensus congress was conducted orderly, leading to the election of Kabiru Moyi as the state chairman. Hajiya Hadiza Balarabe, the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, led the delegation from the national headquarters. Other key positions filled during the exercise included the vice chairman, secretary, auditor, and the publicity secretary.
Governor Dauda Lawal expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the congress, describing it as a vital step toward securing victory for the party in 2027. He emphasized that the smooth transition of power within the state chapter demonstrates a high level of maturity among the stakeholders involved. The governor noted that the unity displayed during the selection process would serve as a solid foundation for future political engagements across the entire state.
The governor further extended his appreciation to the congress chairperson and her entire team for their commitment to a transparent process. He urged the newly inaugurated executives to prioritize the collective interest of the party over individual ambitions to ensure long term stability. Lawal stressed that the success of the administration depends heavily on the cooperation between the government and the party leadership at all levels to deliver on their various campaign promises.
