Pastor Ayodele Oritsejafor, former president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has stated that former President Goodluck Jonathan did the best he could to tackle insurgency during his time in office.
In an interview with Channels Television, Oritsejafor said he discovered that a highly influential person contacted countries including Israel, the United Kingdom and France, and told them not to sell weapons to Jonathan’s government.
Oritsejafor said it was extremely difficult for Jonathan’s government to fight insurgents because many countries refused to sell arms to Jonathan.
In Oritsejafor’s words: “Jonathan did the best that he could because I discovered that somebody with a lot of influence contacted nations like Israel, UK and France and all these nations not to sell arms to him. How do you fight insurgency without ammunition and without guns. So he has nobody and no nation to go to and buy these things”
