In a recent interview on KaaTruths, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama Pee and a human rights activist, shared her views on the political outlook ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly regarding the prospects of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in Edo State.
Oruche argued that voter sentiment and public dissatisfaction with current economic conditions could play a significant role in shaping electoral outcomes across the country. She maintained that many Nigerians are becoming increasingly interested in candidates they believe can offer alternative approaches to governance.
Speaking during the interview, Oruche stated, “In Edo State, Obi is going to win; Monday Okpebholo cannot rig it.” She made the remark while discussing what she believes will be the political mood in the state as the next presidential election approaches.
According to her, public participation and voter awareness will be important factors in determining the credibility and outcome of future elections. She argued that citizens are becoming more engaged in the democratic process and are paying closer attention to issues affecting their daily lives.
Oruche further noted that electoral contests should be decided by the will of voters rather than by political influence or manipulation. She emphasized the importance of maintaining confidence in democratic institutions and electoral processes.
The activist also called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and actively participate in civic activities aimed at strengthening democracy and promoting accountability among public officials.
She concluded by encouraging citizens to evaluate candidates based on their records, policies, and leadership qualities, stressing that informed participation remains essential to the success of Nigeria’s democracy.
