According to a report by Fox News on Monday, April 13, 2026, President Trump has reiterated a firm stance that the United States will not accept any agreement with Iran unless Tehran completely abandons any pursuit of nuclear weapons.
Speaking on the condition for a potential deal, he said negotiations had covered multiple areas but stressed that nuclear capability remains the central unresolved issue blocking progress. He made clear that without that commitment, no agreement would be possible.
“Iran will not have a nuclear weapon, and we agreed to a lot of things, but they didn’t agree to that,” Trump said. “If they don’t agree, there’s no deal. There’ll never be a deal. Iran will not have a nuclear weapon.”
The remarks come as nuclear tensions between Washington and Tehran remain a core point of dispute in ongoing diplomatic engagement. The United States has consistently maintained that Iran must be prevented from developing nuclear weapons, while Iran continues to insist its nuclear programme is for civilian energy purposes.
Trump emphasized that the issue is non-negotiable and that any framework lacking a permanent prohibition on nuclear weapons development would be unacceptable to Washington.
He added that while discussions have taken place across several diplomatic channels, they cannot advance unless the nuclear question is fully resolved in line with US demands.
The statement reflects continued deadlock in international efforts involving the United States, Iran, and mediating partners seeking to reduce regional tensions. Talks have repeatedly stalled over verification mechanisms, sanctions relief, and long-term compliance guarantees.
Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts, both sides remain firmly positioned, leaving the future of negotiations uncertain as pressure continues to mount in the wider geopolitical environment.
