According to a report by The Sun on Monday, April 13, 2026, former Sokoto State governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has warned against any attempt to manipulate the 2027 general elections in Nigeria, stating that Nigerians will decide their leaders through their votes.
Tambuwal spoke after the African Democratic Congress (ADC) State Congress held in Sokoto. He dismissed claims that election results could be arranged in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He stated that it is not possible to write results where people have not voted. He insisted that the will of the people will stand. The former Speaker of the House of Representatives said he has always stood by his principles in politics.
He recalled his disagreements with former President Goodluck Jonathan and former President Muhammadu Buhari during his time in office, noting that those experiences shaped his belief in democracy and fairness.
Tambuwal also reacted to the rising number of politicians leaving other parties to join the APC, stating that many of them are doing so out of fear rather than improved governance.
He claimed that some politicians believe the 2027 elections may be influenced, but insisted that Nigerians are now more aware and alert. He added that neither security agencies nor the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) can be used to control election results.
“Some people believe that the results of the 2027 elections will be written in favour of the APC. But how will that be possible? Nobody can write results in 2027; nobody can write results to claim victory where none exists,” he said.
