Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has reacted to Governor Uba Sani’s decision to nominate Jerry Adams from Southern Kaduna as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
Sani described the nomination as a step towards promoting inclusion, fairness and unity between the northern and southern parts of Kaduna State.
Governor Uba Sani had announced Adams, who currently serves as the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), as his deputy governorship candidate after consultations and prayers.
The choice of Adams marks the first time in seven years that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State will field a Christian as deputy governorship candidate, after previously contesting the 2019 and 2023 elections with Muslim-Muslim tickets.
The governor said the decision was based on Adams’ competence, integrity and experience in public service. He described him as a respected tax administrator whose leadership at KADIRS had helped improve the state’s revenue system and financial management.
Adams, a native of Southern Kaduna, is known for his work in tax administration and institutional reforms. His nomination is expected to generate discussions within the state’s political space as parties begin preparations for the 2027 governorship election.
