Dr Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and miracle and Miracle Ministries has cautioned believers against the habit of blaming family background, parental neglect, or external limitations for personal stagnation, warning that such attitudes can gradually cripple destiny and productivity.
Speaking during a recent sermon shared via YouTube, the cleric said many individuals waste valuable time engaging in complaints rather than taking responsibility for their growth and development.
He described such behaviour as spiritually dangerous because it reinforces stagnation and discourages action.
“Stop wasting your time shouting, ‘My father did not help me, I have no helper,’” he said. “The more you grumble, the more spiritual paralysis you will experience.”
Olukoya emphasized that every human being is given the same 24 hours daily, stressing that the difference between success and failure lies in how individuals manage their time, focus, and discipline.
According to him, mediocrity becomes inevitable when people refuse to take responsibility for their choices and actions.
He warned that a life characterized by excuses eventually leads to what he described as stagnation, which, if unchecked, can degenerate into deeper failure and “destiny decay.”
The cleric urged believers to shift their mindset from complaint to productivity, adding that progress requires intentional effort, spiritual discipline, and personal accountability.
He encouraged individuals to identify opportunities within their environment and maximize their time instead of dwelling on past disappointments.
Olukoya also advised against the culture of blame-shifting, where individuals refuse to accept responsibility for their mistakes and instead attribute their challenges to others, including government, family, or society.
He further urged believers to adopt a mindset of growth, insisting that transformation begins when people decide to act differently rather than think differently alone.
