Veteran Nigerian actor, Abdul Salam Taofeek, popularly known in the industry as Tioruju Mondusi, has opened up on what he described as the most painful experience of his life.
The Nollywood star revealed the incident during a recent appearance on the African A-List podcast, where he spoke about personal struggles, relationships, and forgiveness.
When asked whether there was anyone he had struggled to forgive due to deep emotional hurt, the actor pointed to his late wife, describing her as the person who caused him the most emotional pain. According to him, the situation happened several years ago while he was away on a film location.
He explained that he returned home expecting to meet his wife, who was heavily pregnant at the time, but she was nowhere to be found. He said efforts to reach her by phone were initially unsuccessful, leaving him worried and confused about her whereabouts.
The actor further stated that after two days, he was finally able to contact her, but she allegedly refused to disclose her location. Concerned, he said he later visited her mother’s house to demand answers, only to discover a situation he described as shocking and emotionally damaging.
According to him, he learned that she had allegedly been involved with another man, who was already married with children. He added that the development led to serious conflict between them, including accusations surrounding the paternity of their children.
He also claimed that the disagreement escalated to legal proceedings, as the marriage eventually broke down in court. During the process, he said his wife allegedly made further confessions about the paternity of some of the children.
The actor recounted that the situation caused deep emotional distress for both parties and eventually led to a complete separation. He added that the relationship issues continued to affect their lives even after the marriage ended.
Tioruju Mondusi also disclosed that his former wife later passed away, attributing her death to depression following personal and family struggles that arose after the separation.
The veteran actor’s revelation has since drawn attention, as fans reflect on the emotional weight of his story and the challenges sometimes faced in personal relationships behind the public image of celebrities.
He, however, did not indicate any further plans to publicly revisit the matter, stating that it remains one of the most painful chapters of his life.
