In a recent report by Daily Post on Tuesday June 9th, 2026, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed reports circulating on social media and other platforms claiming that the party has released the results of its recently concluded primary elections, insisting that no official list of successful candidates has been made public in any state.
The clarification was made on Tuesday in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, following controversy surrounding an alleged list of candidates from Kano State. The reports had generated widespread reactions after claims emerged that some aspirants believed to be loyal to the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, were omitted from the purported list of winners.
According to the NDC, the reports are inaccurate and do not represent the position of the party. It stressed that the process of collating and verifying results from the primary elections is still ongoing and that any list currently in circulation should be disregarded by party members and the general public.
The party maintained that only the national leadership has the authority to announce official results and assured stakeholders that the exercise would be conducted in line with established guidelines and democratic principles.
The statement also confirmed that the national leadership of the Kwankwasiyya Movement recently held a closed-door meeting with NDC leaders and the party’s national leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson. The meeting was aimed at addressing concerns arising from disagreements between members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and legacy NDC officials in Kano State.
Party officials described the discussions as productive, noting that efforts are ongoing to ensure unity and inclusiveness within the party ahead of future political activities.
The NDC leadership reiterated its commitment to internal democracy, emphasizing that no candidate would be imposed in Kano State or any other part of the country. It assured members that all concerns raised during and after the primaries would be addressed through dialogue and established party mechanisms.
The development comes amid heightened political activities within the NDC as it prepares for future electoral contests and works to strengthen cohesion among its various political blocs nationwide.
