According to a report by Vanguard on Thursday, June 4, 2026, the Oyo State Police Command has denied reports circulating on social media claiming that pupils and teachers abducted from Ahoro Esiele and Yawota communities in Oriire Local Government Area have regained their freedom.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the command described the reports as false and without any factual basis, stressing that no rescue or release had occurred.
The police urged the public to ignore the claims, stating: “As of the time of this release, there has been no such development, and members of the public are advised to disregard the report in its entirety.”
The command assured residents and relatives of the victims that security agencies were continuing efforts to secure the safe return of the abducted pupils and teachers. It noted that personnel were deploying available resources to rescue the victims and apprehend those responsible for the abduction.
Police also warned against spreading unverified information, saying such reports could create panic, increase public anxiety and interfere with ongoing security operations.
The command advised citizens to rely on information released through official channels of the Nigeria Police Force and other authorised government agencies. It further reaffirmed its commitment to keeping the public informed with accurate updates as rescue efforts continue.
