The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects for alleged criminal conspiracy, theft, trespass, and unlawful possession of a firearm, recovering a locally made pistol, stolen phones, and other dangerous items during an operation in Keffi Local Government Area.
According to the Command, the arrest followed a complaint lodged at the Keffi Divisional Headquarters on May 30, 2026, at about 10:30 a.m. by a resident of Kofar Hausa, Keffi. The complainant alleged that a suspect identified as Shafiu Abdul-Rauf unlawfully entered his room and fled with his Android phone after being confronted.
Acting on the report, detectives attached to the division launched an intelligence-led operation that resulted in the arrest of the principal suspect, Shafiu Abdul-Rauf, alongside Usman Abdulmumuni, both residents of Mayanka in Keffi.
A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of a locally made pistol loaded with one live cartridge, two sharp cutlasses, a knife, two Tecno Android phones, an Itel mobile phone, a bunch of keys, and other items believed to be linked to criminal activities.
Police authorities said the suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue to determine their possible involvement in other crimes and facilitate further legal action.
Commending the officers involved in the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, praised their swift response and professionalism.
The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state and urged residents to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with timely and credible information that could aid crime-fighting efforts.
