According to a report by Anadolu News Agency on Monday, April 27, 2026, Iran has declared that its armed forces are fully prepared for any potential military confrontation with the United States, as tensions between Tehran and Washington continue to fuel concerns about a wider regional conflict.
Senior Iranian military officials said the country remains on high alert and would respond decisively to any attack targeting its territory or strategic interests. The warning follows renewed disputes over security issues in the Middle East, including disagreements surrounding Iran’s nuclear activities, military operations in the Gulf region, and the presence of American forces near Iranian borders.
Iranian commanders stated that the nation’s defense systems, missile units, and military personnel have been placed in a heightened state of readiness. Officials in Tehran also insisted that the country has already identified strategic targets that could be hit immediately if hostilities begin. According to Iranian authorities, the military has spent months strengthening its defensive and offensive capabilities amid fears of a direct clash with Washington.
The latest remarks come after reports of increased American military activity in the region and ongoing disagreements over negotiations tied to Iran’s nuclear programme. Tehran has repeatedly accused the United States of maintaining pressure through sanctions, naval deployments, and military threats, while American officials continue to demand tougher restrictions on Iran’s nuclear and missile development.
Iran’s leadership, however, maintained that it does not seek war and remains open to diplomacy under what it describes as fair conditions. Foreign ministry representatives said negotiations cannot succeed under threats or intimidation, warning that any military action would trigger a strong response from Tehran and its regional allies.
