In an interview with Chude, a resident of Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, where terrorists invaded three schools, has revealed that the terrorists killed the teacher, Michael Oyedokun, because the soldiers who came for the rescue mission attacked. He stated that the terrorists claimed they had brought war and that it should continue.
Recounting the incident, the resident said the kidnappers arrived on motorcycles wearing army camouflage and carrying sophisticated weapons. They abducted the children and marched them down the street.
He said that under a tree, the kidnappers shot and killed a man who refused to surrender his motorcycle. The resident added that the community lacks the strength to fight back and cannot make sense of what’s happening. He said that the victims are very young children, 46 in total, and the rest of the residents cannot leave because their loved ones are being held. He said the kidnappers killed the teacher after soldiers attacked, telling the community that because they had brought war, it should continue.
The resident said, “We saw them on bike with army camouflage fully armed. They came with sophisticated guns. They operated and took the children. They walked them down street. They killed someone there under that tree. They shot him dead. They wanted to take his bike and use it for their mobility, but he refused and they shot him. We do not have the strength for this and it is beyond our understanding.”
He continued, “The children are so young. 46 people. The rest of us cannot go anywhere because they are with our loved ones. They killed the teacher because the soldiers attacked. They said because we brought war, they slaughtered the man and that we should continue.”
