
During his captivity, the young male tricycle operator surreptitiously alerted neighbours in Igbo, according to Okechukwu Ezeibe, Chairman of Umunkaru in Ohuhu Community. This played a pivotal part in the rescue operation. “The young man began calling his brothers in Igbo while he was in the woods when they said they should bring 10 million naira. Ezeibe explained to Arise TV that after hearing him, those individuals went out to save them.
The chairman praised the young people of the town for their remarkable bravery in the face of adversity. In his words, they stepped up and made a determined move when it meant the most.
