Hon. Adamu Mohammed Yakubu, APC North Central Zonal Secretary, has said the party remains electorally strong across the region but still faces challenges in some states.
Speaking in an interview with LEADERSHIP on Sunday May 3 2026, Yakubu cited Niger State’s consistent victories, APC’s win over the PDP in Kwara State, and a smooth transition in Kogi from Yahaya Bello to Usman Ododo as signs of stability. He also noted that Nasarawa and Benue remain firmly under APC control.
He, however, identified Plateau State as a key challenge following the party’s loss there, expressing optimism that the APC national chairman from the state would help strengthen the party’s position going forward.
He stated,
“In Niger State, we have an unbroken winning streak. In Kwara, we defeated the PDP. In Kogi, we had a seamless transition from Yahaya Bello to Governor Usman Ododo. Nasarawa and Benue, under Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, are firmly APC.”
