Afam Ogene, a lawmaker from Anambra State’s Ogbaru Federal Constituency, recently spoke with Symfoni TV on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Ogene discussed the interventions made by previous administrations in Anambra State’s governance, focusing on the security assistance given to local communities.
According to Ogene, the state’s safety and community policing have been improved by different administrations, and each one should be judged according to its own policies and deeds.
“Obi provided Hilux security vehicles to each of them in all 177 communities in Anambra State,” Ogene said during the interview. While talking about security changes and community-level policing measures implemented during Peter Obi’s governorship, he made the comment.
He believed that providing communities with security logistics was a big step toward enhancing collaboration between formal security services and local vigilance formations. He insisted that these kinds of initiatives helped bring crime rates down in various sections of the state.
Ogene went on to say that, instead of focusing on political myths, we should evaluate governments by their actual infrastructural and policy impacts. Collaboration between government agencies and local communities is essential for security management, he said.
Successive governments should study good programs and, if feasible, improve upon them, the federal senator said, further emphasising the significance of continuity in governance. He argued that governments should build on existing foundations in order to accomplish progress.
He his up by calling for an impartial assessment of previous administrations, highlighting the need of well-informed public conversation in enhancing democratic accountability and policymaking.
