Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has shared a new political perspective regarding emerging alliances among prominent Nigerian figures ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He made the remarks during a prophetic session published on his official Facebook page on Sunday, May 3, 2026, where he discussed what he described as shifting loyalties and strategic alignments within the country’s political environment. His comments focused on how influential personalities may be repositioning themselves as the next election cycle approaches.
In his statement, Ayodele specifically referenced former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his perceived political inclination. Contrary to some public assumptions, the cleric suggested that Obasanjo’s support may not be aligned with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
He stated, “Obasanjo is not with Atiku Abubakar; he is with Peter Obi,” indicating that the former president’s political backing could be directed toward Peter Obi instead. This assertion highlights what Ayodele described as less visible political dynamics that may influence the broader electoral landscape.
According to him, alliances among key political actors—particularly those with national prominence and international recognition—could significantly shape the outcome of the 2027 presidential election. He emphasized that such relationships often carry substantial weight in determining voter perception and political momentum.
Ayodele further observed that both Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi remain central figures in Nigeria’s political space, with their prospects likely to be influenced by evolving partnerships and endorsements. He noted that behind-the-scenes negotiations and strategic endorsements frequently play a decisive role in electoral success, even when they are not immediately apparent to the public.
He advised political stakeholders and observers to closely monitor these developments, stressing the importance of understanding the underlying factors that drive political alignments. The cleric also urged Nigerians to remain attentive as the political landscape continues to evolve.
