According to a report by Daily Post on Monday, June 22, 2026, Ayodele Fayose, former Governor of Ekiti State, has declared that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State will face political opposition from him, stating that he and his supporters are prepared to teach the Oyo governor a political lesson.
Fayose made the remarks while speaking during an interview on Channels Television, where he addressed issues surrounding his relationship with Makinde and the political developments involving both leaders.
During the interview, Fayose expressed dissatisfaction with Makinde’s actions and conduct, indicating that there were political grievances that had led to the current disagreement between them.
The former governor maintained that he would not remain silent in the face of what he considered acts of disrespect and disregard for political relationships that he values.
Fayose further alleged that Makinde had taken possession of land that he described as belonging to traditional deities.
According to him, the land in question has spiritual significance, and he warned that the deities associated with it would eventually reclaim what belongs to them.
He suggested that such actions could have consequences beyond ordinary political disagreements.
The former Ekiti governor emphasized that respect remains a key factor in his dealings with political associates and allies.
He explained that individuals who maintain a respectful relationship with him would continue to enjoy his goodwill, support, and the benefits that come with such an association.
According to Fayose, political relationships are built on mutual regard and recognition, he maintained that when such respect is absent, those involved should expect a different response.
He indicated that his approach to politics does not allow him to overlook actions that he perceives as disrespectful or dismissive.
Speaking further on the matter, Fayose stressed that he is not a politician who can be ignored or treated without consideration.
He stated that his political experience and influence have made him a significant figure whose views and reactions should not be taken lightly by those operating within the political space.
He said: “We will teach Makinde a political lesson. If you respect me, you will get all my values and support, but if you disrespect me, you will get the downside of Fayose. I’m not a politician that is taken for granted.”
