According to a report by Daily Post on Monday, May 04, 2026, The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has criticised opposition politicians Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, describing them as “unserious” over what he called frequent party defections and shifting political alliances.
Morka made the remarks on Monday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, where he responded to recent political realignments involving the two figures.
He was reacting to reports that Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso had left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on Sunday, just months after joining the ADC. The opposition leaders reportedly cited internal legal disputes within the party as the reason for their departure, allegations they linked to external influence from the ruling party.
However, Morka rejected the claims, insisting that the APC had no involvement in the internal crises of opposition parties.
He further accused the politicians of seeking easier pathways to presidential nominations rather than building stable political platforms.
According to him, “The narrative has been that the APC is responsible for all the problems and chaos in opposition parties. Are we now suggesting that what happened in the past 48 hours was also orchestrated by the APC?”
He added: “These individuals are not taking things seriously. They move from one platform to another, searching for a convenient route to secure presidential tickets. They appear to have a pattern of constantly shifting positions.”
Morka also referenced past criticisms made by Obi against politicians who defect for political gain, arguing that his current actions contradict those earlier positions. He described the behaviour as “nomadic movement” and said it undermines political credibility.
He further claimed that Obi tends to exit parties at the earliest sign of internal disagreement, questioning his consistency as a presidential aspirant.
Morka maintained that the APC bears no responsibility for opposition instability, describing the situation as internally driven. He added that Nigeria is making progress despite criticism from opposition figures, and dismissed suggestions that the ruling party interferes in rival party affairs.
