Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has indicated a willingness to support any credible candidate that emerges through a legitimate party process, including former presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Amaechi made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television on Friday, April 17, 2026, where he discussed party primaries, internal democracy, and the importance of candidate selection in shaping electoral outcomes.
In his comments, Amaechi emphasized that his political position is guided by principles of competence and due process rather than personal rivalry or party sentiment.
He noted that if a candidate emerges through a transparent and competitive primary process, such a candidate deserves support from party stakeholders and political actors committed to democratic ideals.
