In a recent Facebook video, Primate Elijah Ayodele issued a strong warning to President Bola Tinubu, urging him to take decisive action within the next two weeks to prevent foreign interference in Nigeria’s internal affairs. According to him, failure to do so could have lasting consequences for the administration.
The cleric cautioned specifically against allowing the United States to become directly involved in the country’s current security challenges.
He said, “Two more weeks for Tinubu to act, you should not allow America to step on this war.”
Primate Ayodele revealed that, while the U.S. already has some level of presence in Nigeria, granting them operational freedom could lead to embarrassment for the government on an international scale.
He emphasized that any collaboration with foreign powers should be carefully managed through proper coordination with Nigeria’s military rather than allowing them to act independently.
In his words, “Though they are already in Nigeria but you should not allow them to act. They can work with our military than to be independent to do this.”
Ayodele warned that if such independence were granted, it could undermine national sovereignty and damage President Tinubu’s credibility both domestically and abroad.
He added that the situation, if mishandled, might result in a lasting political and diplomatic setback.
The cleric stressed that decisive leadership and proactive engagement were essential to prevent this outcome, saying such a move would “embarrasses his government permanently.”
His message serves as both a prophetic caution and political advice, urging the president to strengthen Nigeria’s internal mechanisms for resolving conflicts while maintaining control.
