According to a report by The Punch on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to exercise caution and avoid confrontations with military personnel following a tense clash over an alleged land-grabbing incident in Abuja.
The incident occurred at Gaduwa District, where Wike was enforcing FCT directives on a disputed land allegedly linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff.
A viral video obtained by PUNCH Online shows the minister accusing a military officer of unlawfully guarding the property, arguing that public land should not be appropriated under the pretext of official connections.
The situation escalated when the officer, dressed in camouflage, insisted that the acquisition followed proper procedures and that he acted within the law. Wike, however, ordered the officer to stand down, leading to a heated exchange that drew public attention.
Reacting on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Shehu Sani commended Wike for his efforts to restore order in Abuja but warned against engaging soldiers directly. “Wike is doing an excellent job in Abuja but should not be encouraged to do this kind of stunt with soldiers,” Sani wrote.
